State-Certified Technician / Bachelor Professional

Specialization in mill construction plus cereals and feedstuff technology

The DMSB trains “State-Certified Technicians” or “Bachelor Professionals” in the disciplines of mill construction plus cereals and feedstuff technology with a major in milling-related process engineering. A supplementary specialism in milling-related plant engineering is also offered. Most students choose both options to enhance their chances in the employment market after they graduate.

This advanced training course takes two years full-time. If students have a  relevant qualification, e.g. a degree in mechanical engineering, food technology or a related field, these qualifications can be treated as credits following an individual consultation.

Your curriculum

The DMSB offers advanced training that includes state-of-the-art equipment, a well thought-out concept and application-focused courses. One of the main reasons for this is the close interaction between the business and science communities and the DMSB. The focus is on practical relevance and experienced practitioners ensure that the school also keeps up to date in terms of equipment.

“The same heart beats in every chest”

Schnelle comes from a family of millers. It was always clear to him that he would be the third generation to carry on the family tradition, do a miller’s apprenticeship and then attend the DMSB like his father before him. But then things turned out differently. Two years after graduation, the family-owned mill received an…Read now

Nice and spicy

Frank Hentschel follows through with whatever sets his mind on. This was already the case when he was looking for an apprenticeship. Following an internship in a water-powered repeat-grind mill in the Sauerland region, he really wanted to learn milling there – and got his way. “This kind of mill was very exotic. It was…Read now

Change of direction enabled

Without WDR, Johannes Decker would probably never have got into milling. “I found out about a vacant apprenticeship as a miller in Gelsenkirchen through the WDR 2 apprenticeship campaign,” the former DMSB student recalls. At the time, he was looking for a craft trade with a technical background, where issues such as quality management and…Read now
